Ivan Stux, PhD
President and Chief Investment Officer

Dr. Ivan Stux is President and Chief Investment Officer of Stux Capital Management LLC, and is the majority employee shareholder. In his roles, Dr. Stux drives product design and strategy for the firm as well as overseeing the investment process, including research, portfolio management and trading.

Prior to founding Stux Capital, Dr. Stux was a principal at Morgan Stanley in the Equities Division, where, over most of his sixteen-year career, he served as head of analytical and quantitative research and development for equities, equity derivatives, portfolio trading, and quantitative strategies. In this role, he developed analytically disciplined equity investment strategies for Morgan Stanley's largest institutional clients. He was also responsible for a staff of as many as thirty professionals whom he hired, trained, coached and supervised. For six years prior to Morgan Stanley, Dr. Stux was a management consultant with McKinsey & Co, specializing in product-market strategies and financial management. Prior to that, he was an associate professor of finance and business strategy at Columbia University Graduate School of Business (1977-1979), and prior to that, assistant professor of mathematics in the Mathematics Department of Columbia University (1973-1976).

Dr. Stux earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Courant Institute for Mathematical Sciences at New York University, where he received the Jay Krakauer Award for the best science dissertation of the year. He earned an M.B.A. from Columbia University and a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from City College of New York.

Tom Bauer, CFA

Chief Operating Officer and Portfolio Manager

Mr. Tom Bauer is Chief Operating Officer of Stux Capital Management LLC and Portfolio Manager. He co-founded the firm in 2001 and is a minority employee shareholder. With Dr. Stux, Mr. Bauer manages the investment process, including research, portfolio management, and trading, and the legal and regulatory affairs, financial, marketing, and human resources functions for the firm.

Prior to founding Stux Capital, Mr. Bauer worked for the U.S. investment arm of Aegon NV, a large multinational insurance company, as a consultant on its derivatives portfolio. Prior to this, he served for two years as derivatives portfolio manager for ARM Financial Group, a $9 billion insurance company. Prior to ARM, he worked for eleven years at Providian Corporation (previously known as Capital Holding Corporation), a $25 billion insurance company, as an investment officer in the "Wild Ducks" unit, the company's R&D laboratory for non-traditional investments.

Mr. Bauer graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, and was a Rhodes Scholar nominee of the university. He is a CFA Charterholder.
